This is a $10.99 24-page board book for children aged 3 to 8, designed to be a Christmas 2014 present for young fans of the 2013 Disney “Frozen” theatrical animated feature (available on DVD since March 2014). It will go on sale on October 7.

The copyright statement identifies the primary writer as Calliope Glass, enhanced by the Disney Book Group and illustrated on every page in color by the Disney Storybook Art Team.

The fairytale kingdom of Arendelle (artistically modeled on mid-19th-century Norway) is preparing for its first winter ball since the events of the movie. Everyone is happy with teenage Queen Elsa’s now-under-control magic ice power, and Elsa and her slightly younger, non-magical sister, Princess Anna, are best friends.

Elsa is busy preparing to make this winter ball the best ever, with her magic ice powers. Anna has to remind Elsa that the best gift of all is a true friend, with whom to play together as equals.

For today’s young children, the best thing about this board book may be that it comes with a “Mobile App! For iPhone & iPad”. A parent can help install it. This may be a child’s first mobile app of his or her own.
