Angel and Faith: Live Through This

Writer: Christos Gage

Artists: Rebekah Issacs (Live Through This); Phil Noto (Harmony one shot)

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics

ISBN-13: 9781595828873

This trade collection follows the adventures of Slayer Faith (originally called to the role when Buffy briefly died for a moment earlier on in the series but a moment was all it took), and vampire-with-a-soul Angel who has several times been able to be turned back to the dark side even after gaining a conscious. His most recent struggles led to the death of Buffy’s friend and mentor Rupert Giles (in the comic book’s “Season 8”), and Angel now feels that he must make things right. Convinced he can find a way in a world currently devoid of magic to bring Giles back to life, Angel won’t be deterred from his quest – and “bad girl” Faith finds herself evolving into a conscience of sorts. While definitely a more enjoyable read for someone who knows the television series (including several in jokes), it is written in such a way that the overall plot still can make a decent starting point to enter the “Buffy-verse”.
