CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is pleased to announce the winners of its Teen Summer Internship Program Grants, which are funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Forty libraries are receiving $1,000 to help fund summer internships for teens.
“YALSA is pleased to work with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to offer internships to teens at the library,” said Sarah Flowers, YALSA president. “It is a pleasure to be able to offer teens an opportunity to participate in the work our amazing members do.”
“Introducing students to the opportunities available at the library is an investment in the future of our libraries,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s director of community initiatives. “The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to support the teen summer internship program, which gives libraries extra help and teens hands-on experience at their local library.”
