First Second: Authors and Awards at San Diego Comic-Con

First Second, the book industry’s premier publisher of graphic novels, is excited to announce an excellent line-up for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con – including a show debut, four Eisner Nominated graphic novels and two convention Guests of Honor!

First Second will be exhibiting at SDCC 2013 at booth #1323.

ONE SHOW DEBUT

The Shadow Hero, by Gene Luen Yang and Sonny Liew

“To say that the American superhero comic book medium is somewhat biased towards portraying most heroes as Caucasian is something of an understatement. Although serious strides have been made towards diversity in recent years, the truth is, most superheroes are still predominantly white as milk. And those that aren’t are not really headlining their own comic books, at least, sadly, not for extended periods of time. Decades ago, though, there was an Asian superhero, even if readers didn’t really know he was Asian: The Green Turtle, a hero revived for Luen Yang and Sonny Liew’s The Shadow Hero.” — Nerdist

FOUR EISNER AWARD NOMINATIONS

Battling Boy, by Paul Pope

Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang

Odd Duck, by Cecil Castellucci and Sara Varon

Templar, by Jordan Mechner, LeUyen Pham, and Alex Puvilland
