Contest Post # 1 – Noel Streatfeild

Noel Streatfeild was quite the prolific author.  Her “Shoe Books” were written in the early 1930’s and remain popular today.  They were my favorite books as a child and when I saw it mentioned on You’ve Got Mail by Meg Ryan, I was so excited I jumped up and down.  Meg’s character Kathleen owned a bookstore that got put out of business by a big bargain bookstore and the store clerk in the big store had no idea what a woman was talking about when she asked for the Shoe Books.

The quote from the movie was:

“I’d start with Ballet Shoes, it’s my favorite, although Skating Shoes is completely wonderful.”
– Kathleen (Meg Ryan) in You’ve Got Mail

Rick DeMott has a DVD of Ballet Shoes for the first one back to his site with the answer to which movie as well as the quote.
